About global ping
Probes live in 9+ globally-distributed locations (Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, New York, LA, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, São Paulo). Pick any combination and hit Ping or Traceroute. We dispatch to each probe in parallel and render results as they arrive.
Powered by Globalping for measurement dispatch.
When it's useful
- Confirming regional reachability after a deploy or DNS change.
- Diagnosing "works for me but not for the user in Tokyo" complaints.
- Tracing where a path to a destination actually goes (which transits).
Questions
Why does one region time out?
The target may firewall ICMP from that region, the probe could be flaky, or the network path could be legitimately down. Try again in a minute.
Is traceroute ICMP or UDP?
It depends on the probe. Most Globalping probes default to ICMP Echo with UDP fallback.
